Problem

I am trying to use Microsoft Windows Update and I keep getting an error. The error number is 0x80072F05.

Solution

This Windows Update error is commonly caused by a problem with the date/time on your computer. Unfortunately Windows Update does not give you any details of the cause of the problem other than providing you with the error number 0x80072F05.

To fix the problem - double click on the time display at the bottom right of your screen and update the date on your computer to the correct date (today).
